National O' Day planning?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

USOF is trying to get clubs to host "National O' Day" events. I think the idea is to have clubs all over the country hosting beginner events on the same weekend. Is OK up for this?

Here is an email I got from some USOF-type:

Attention, I am conducting an informal poll to determine which clubs are hosting/planning NOD O events on MAY 5, 2001. This info will be used by myself and Sherry Litasi to help update a NOD announcement to be placed on the USOF website shortly. Please pass this on to the usual suspects. I need an event go/no go response by 2 March, with all poc details needed no later an 9 March.

I can be reached at rrychars@pica.army.mil , Home (973) 839-4095 no calls after 10 pm eastern time, Work (973) 724-7672

Bob Rycharski Acting NOD Assistant Coordinator

Please forward this to any clubs/persons that I may not have the email address, this is my 1st attempt at mass USOF club email mailing. Sorry in advance & Pardon me (Bill Clinton) if I miss some O clubs. By the way, I heard that he (Bill) may come to a NOD event in HVO, by a park near his new home in Westchester, but that Hillary is staying with her home club QOC. Did I hear right? Or are they considering NTOA or ALTOS, a club close to old friends in Little Rock. I'll keep you posted.

Please forward to me the following basic info: And please provide answers in the same order, it will make it easier to file in a spreadsheet.

Hi, this "USOF type" is a local HVO club volunteer just trying to promote orienteering on May 5 or 6. No offense taken. Does OK have any NOD volunteers up to help promote O, make plans for a NOD event and make a few new friends? Let me know, and if not this year, please consider hosting a NOD event in 2002 (May 4&5). Have a nice day. Bob Rycharski

Here is yet another wonderful opportunity for Nanaba Man to step forward and excel!

Bob,

We didn't have anyone step forward to host a NOD. The timing of the event is not good for us. The O' season is over around the middle of April (the forests get to thick). We don't typically host beginner events unless we have some other events coming up soon.
