John:

There are many ways to get a "fair" price. Check out the latest issue of Shutterbug magazine and scan the ads for Tamarkin, Jim Kuehl, Don Chatterton & Classic Connection (Sam Shoshan). They are reputed Leica dealers and have large stocks of used Leica equipment, some of which should be similar to what you have. But be aware that if you want to sell to them, you will get far less than their asking price! You will get far more if you sell it yourself on EBAY. Search their current auctions and also completed auctions to get the range of prices. Be sure to set an appropriate reserve price to protect yourself. Both the 3G and the M4 are desirable used Leica cameras. You will have no trouble selling them! Good luck! P.S. I would love to buy all your Leica equipment, but I don't think I can afford it all! ...................................................................... .....................................................................

Good advice! Also...

THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOUT!

Stephen Gandy[cameraquest.com] says the 3G was made from 1957-1960, and that while plenty of earlier models were factory-converted to 3Fs, he has never heard of a conversion to a 3G - which is what this camera would have to be if it has a 1953 serial number. So either you are mistaken or in huge luck! -David K
