I can't figure out the point or what is happening in the story "The Tell Tale Heart". Please Help me figure this out

well this story is about a madman who is plotting to kill the man he lives with.. he does not want to kill him because of hate but because he can't stand to look at the pale blue of the old man any longer... he sneaks in the mans room kills him and buries beneath the floor boards.. cops come and he confesses beacuse he thinks he hears the old mans herat beating through the floor but really it was his own heart because he was full of fear...
