Answers

Goma is being shagged by Marcellino and he rightly doesn't like it.

-- Anonymous, February 27, 2001

Dyer is shagging every woman in Toon and not leaving any for Goma.

-- Anonymous, February 27, 2001

Goma is upset that the black and white strip offends his Gallic sense of style. He'd rather play for a team in a nice shade of blue or red.

Rik,

I'd appreciate it if you would explain where this reference came from and in what context it was said.

-- Anonymous, February 27, 2001

...it's OK, I found the reference on Dougal's thread.

Which one ?

-- Anonymous, February 27, 2001

....Media Round-Up.

Ta - I went to watch them train last week (Tuesday) - Bobby Robsons body language was so bad I didn't bother putting anything up here. Saturday proved me right.

Until he gets some dosh to spend I reckon we're scrabbling by.

I believe the real problem with YBR is that he is simply too prepared to accept the party line - it's part of his upbringing and his nature. I strongly suspect he's settled for accepting lesser players because he believes he's being a team player, and that that's the right thing to do in the cirmcumstances - the original Company man.

For the sake of the Club's future, what we need him to do right now is to throw a KK tantrum, thump his boss's desk and tell him "support me now and let me bring in the players needed to put this Club on the right course, or I'm off, because right now I'm wasting my precious retirement shuffling deckchairs on the friggin Titanic! Either we all wake up, roll our sleeves up, and get on with the god-damned job in hand - or I'm off! Your call Fred".

I posted the above at the dog end of another thread a couple of days ago Josh, and thought you might like to read it - I really think it's relevant. A demotivated Bobby Robson will do us, or him, no good whatsoever.

-- Anonymous, February 27, 2001

Yep I reckon you're right - he is downright depressed at the minute. I'm not 100% certain that the board are wrong re keeping things tight until the transfer situation sorts itself. As many have said on many threads - our squad is full of over paid under achievers - shift some and we can spend.

Leeds spent £18m because they gambled that they'd qualify for the next round of the CL which they did and they should get lots back. Nobody else is spending much.

Trouble is, the (any ?) long term plans could be completely screwed up if we get disillusioned enough to start voting with our feet, cos it looks to me like there's a hell of a lot hanging on just having a full house week after week, let alone anything else.

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

I've always believed the best thing we can do to help the team, and make the best out of whatever the situation, is to turn up and support them - even if we reserve the right to bitch and be barrack room lawyers during the rest of the week. Writing letters to Management to let them know how you feel and offer suggestions can be therapeutic, and mildly positive action if it causes them to think and react.

Staying away achieves nothing positive - IMO, of course.

I've just picked up this rumour from a friend, which could possibly suggest what's going on behind the scenes that the fans aren't able to be made aware of. Apparent 'source'? A senior Toon player.

The player in question was being asked about the current problems, and said it would be very different next season. When asked why he said that the club had 7 top players lined up to come here and they had all signed pre-contract deals. However the club were waiting till the contract situation was sorted in case they could get them free.

The 7 players allegedly include 2 from Barcelona ( Reitziger and Guariola were mentioned)

Next question was along the lines of well there must be going to be a bit of a clear out then? In a word yes - but with Shearer, Cort, Dyer, Solano all certain to stay.

Interesting. Accurate? Who knows.

You shouldn't tell me things like this Clarky.

Still wonder why Goma isn't happy though, he still wants to leave despite 7 top players being lined up?

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Well Rik, if say two of these seven were commanding CB's, he just might not be overly thrilled!

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Yeah I heard the other 5 were Denillson, John Carew, Saviavo (sp) from Argentina (via Italian passport !!), Downer from Orient and Hamish McGrumpie from Annan Athletic, but that only two of them were certains

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Macbeth, you are overlooking the fact that Carlton Palmer is unsettled and we might be preparing an audacious bid to swoop before an unamed Italian side secure his signature...

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

and John Hartson has been at Coventry for a while now so he'll be looking for a move soon

I think Domi was onto something when he said England was full of Devil worshipers. I've heard that there are satanic rituals going on at the Chester Le Street training ground.

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

You sure it's not the club listening to the Three Legends and wincing at the number of people who have ripped up their STs and putting out little teasers like this to shut us up?

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

>>>Satanic rituals in Chester-le-Street<<<

Dunno about that, but with little tidbits like that, I have to ask what potients old Al-k-Traz has been imbibing. Any left for me, Clarky?? My nurse has let me down lately ;-)

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Haven't Barca said that Guardiola can go on a free?

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Hey, don't shoot the messenger! I've only relayed what I heard - it surely can't be any worse, or more speculative, than what you regularly read on Teamtalk and the Ronnie.
Actually, I reckon it could be at least partly accurate -I can't otherwise explain how so many highly paid managers at NUFC have been doing with their time for the last few months.

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

I think we should stop all this speculation right now and make up a Sunderland Slur.

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

I've heard that there are satanic rituals going on at the Chester Le Street training ground.

Well a few of us did witness Rob Lee driving in circles just outside the gates one day. And here we thought he'd just gotten lost. Hmmmmm.....

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Sunderland are not very good!

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

O.K. to go with Clarky's story, I've read on various internet sites that the NUFC have already agreed a fee with Leeds for Michael Bridges, and are waiting for 1) Him to start playing again, to see if he makes it to the end of the season without another injury, 2) The transfer situation to sort itself out.

If everythings O.K. Bridges will join in the summer. I pretty much trust one of these sites alot. However it was only in their rumours section, so if Clarky started the rumour well then you know...

-- Anonymous, February 28, 2001

Isn't Saviola going to Barcelona for about £35 million??! Surely we can't afford his wages, even if he goes on a free. What age is he? Under 23?

Not interested in Guardiola and I'm sure most of these supposed pre- contract agreements are 'qualification for Europe related', which just about wraps up chuff all!

-- Anonymous, March 01, 2001

OK, so let's recap where we've got to. So far we've got:

1. Reisiger
2. Guardiola
3. Pablo Paz
4. the defender blerk from PSV whose name I can never remember
5. Michael Bridges
6. Robbie Elliott

That only leaves one more to figure out - hopefully a big centre half? Still no left-sided m/f player?

-- Anonymous, March 01, 2001

A left sided midfielder should be of the upmost priority.

1. Reisiger - Gamble, no European qualification 2. Guardiola - Not interested, no European qualification. 3. Pablo Paz - Concerns about height 4. Oscar Faber - Would appear to be a good signing 5. Michael Bridges - Yep! 6. Robbie Elliott - Is he really significantly better than Quinn? He should be is we want to sign him.

Some of these players are going to cost big money. If we really are going to get them on free transfers due to the new system, I would prefer us to reinforce our British contingent at the club.

Better get your quill-pen out DB, and make Mr. Shepherd aware of your disquiet.

-- Anonymous, March 01, 2001

Clarky,

It sounds like the transfers are already wrapped up so I don't want to disrupt things now, better leave it be and hope for the best!!;)

I think we are straying a bit here lads and lasses, the question was "what does Goma mean when he says ther's something going on that the fans don't know about?"

I had one E mail from a friend of a youth player saying that Robson dosen't like French speaking players. Prefers the attitude of the Spanish and English players.

-- Anonymous, March 01, 2001

Well you have to say his thoughts have been realised with the Domi situation. But did those thoughts bring about the Domi situation? Probably.

So can he explain Marcellino then? Marcellino has said he wants to stay at the Toon for the remainder of his contract (2 years) after a chat with Bobby.

Cosmic!
