I have a problem: some of my sulfide toned prints came out enevenly toned; why? Is it a problem with the bleach bath or the sulfide bath?

I haven't had a problem with this unless the prints were fixed with hardner...

No it wasn't a hardening fixer that i used.

I've only done a little sepia toning in class, but our instructor said you can get bad stains if the prints are not properly fixed and washed before toning.

I've had this problems too. The problem can be small bubbles on the paper. You can use rubber gloves and give the paper a few strokes with your hand. Remember to agitate the bath a lot.

It's uneven bleaching. I know it now!
