Some Fall Decorating ideas
In Fall Decorating, Opposites Attract
Autumn brings us back indoors, with thoughts of nesting. This is a good time to spruce up and rethink decorating. These are good basic principles that work year-round, but can be easily applied in the fall. Make good decorating great decorating by adding a little yin to your yang, or yang to your yin (well, you get the picture):
Group small items to create a dynamic display on a large scale Rough textures should be paired with something smooth Give warm tones greater impact by placing something cool with them Use things in places where you might not normally expect them
Dare to make a statement
Here are some easy fall decorating ideas that give you lots of bang for the buck while showing off your new decorating prowess:
1.) Fill a large, clear glass hurricane lamp or vase with mini-pumpkins. The smooth glass and the texture of the pumpkins will not only be different, but eye-catching.
2.) Remember the Horn of Plenty your mom made every Thanksgiving? We love that idea, but forget the horn. Instead of the typical wicker basket, cool down the warm fall colors with a grouping of pumpkins, squash and gourds in a pewter container.
3.) A different way to display dried cornstalks is to place them in a tall narrow pot. If you have a large front entry, use two matching pots and flank either side of the front door, inside your home.
4.) Thinking of painting a room? Autumn inspires colors like gold, burgundy and deep greens. If youÕre feeling adventurous, paint your dining room Sunset Magazine's "Sweet PapayaÓ #32-B or Benjamin Moore ÒDelightful GoldenÓ #2158-30. Both colors look great with black and white accessories. White trim on the door and window frames, black and white art, and a pine table with black chairs would be striking! And donÕt forget your ceiling -- paint it a wonderful dusty blue (try Benjamin Moore ÒWindmill WingsÓ #2067-60).
Enjoy!
