Looking for ways to entertain myself without spending any money. Though I am going to a big new mall with a couple friends on Sunday....to watch them spend money.

We actually got snow in Baltimore today. About 3-5 inches and you'd think we'd gotten 3 feet to hear the weather and news people carry on. Ah well, at least gave me a bit of exercise digging my car out. Twice, since the maintenance folks at my complex, in their infinite wisdom, directed their snowblowers such that they buried all the cars that had just been dug out. Appreciate it guys. ;-)

0715 Sat: Meet mother off flight from UK.

0716 Sat onwards: Sulk, throw tantrums, piss off girlfriend & generally behave as if I'm 5 years old again.

4 weeks time: Mother leaves Sydney.

4 weeks and a bit: Get life back. Attempt to win girlfriend back.

I've tickets for the Sri Lanka v. England cricket match; as Sri Lanka have already amassed 300+ runs(for the loss of only 2 wickets), I'm thinking about giving it a miss

:-((

Readjust to UK temperatures after a brilliant weeks "r&r" in Barbados - just fabulous, get over jet-lag, catch up on the La Manga parade and other matters on the bbs, and then prepare for a really crucial game on Saturday.

I'm sitting here, blearly-eyed in the Internet Exchange in Gatwick killing some time before our NCL flight - have been reading all the current totally depressing UK news stories - foot 'n mouth epidemic, 21 players under investigation for passport fraud, including Solano, Cordone and Bassedas, continuing share price gloom: cheered only by Jeffrey Archer's latest sh*gging exploits, and how Mary is standing by her man - now there's a true British heroine!

Where'd you stay in Barbados Clarky? I'm there next week....would've been spooky as hell if we'd met up there :))

This weekend it's girlfriend tonight (to ensure a stonking toon win), meet Sting at 6.45 tomorrow morning and head up the road, watch the match, get wankered in Newcastle, pass out, sunday head back down to the smoke and start packing for my holiday in Barbados next week...

We stayed at a hotel called Crystal Cove, Gav, about 10 miles up the West coast from Bridgetown - it was bloody brilliant: the staff were incredibly friendly which is nice. It's quite a small hotel (80 rooms), and probably not "lively" enough for you, but really nice. Weather was just fantastic. Best holiday for ages.

Where are you staying?

We're gonna be in the Southern Palms down at St Lawrence Gap, i stayed there a couple of years ago with my cousin and it was fantastic...nice quiet hotel and fantastic 1000 yard long beach.....St Lawrence is a bit livelier so I'm certain i'll be drunk more than once :))

Can't wait.....roll on next thursday :))

Bastid Geordie i bet thats a reet laugh .. me im off to Toon to say a farewell to the Golden city for a year , should consist of getting trounced pre match , seeing the rest of the lovely BBiers, getting trounced during the match ,few in the Strawbeery, and then hitting the Quayside for a few more beverages and watching then lasses in nae clothes in the freezing cold . Anyone stayed at the Copthorne recently , i presume its alright but never stayed there meself . :-)))

Geordie you lucky B*****d! I was there last week and was pretty sick 'cos I'd miss the Mardi Gras. Make sure you find out where the "Dupes" aka "Stumble" aka "John McVey" are playing - Probably Joe's Generic Bar which is well worth a visit anyway. He's an amazing guitar player. I saw them 3 times last week and had a whale of a time.

Enjoy yourself.

Cheers Pilgrim. Pity we missed eachother. I'm here for 2 wks ... been here 2 days and I can fel the weight getting put on! The place I'm staying at has a free "happy-hour" from 5:30-7:30pm every day. They shouldn't allow Geordies access to free alcohol ;-)

Going to watch the local team Troyes vs Rennes tonight in the French Championship, along with about 15,000 others. The winner will be 6th. Tomorrow trying to see if I can find the match on TV somewhere, and then going to a rugby club party.

Is it just me or is everyone else having way more fun than me. It seems all I do is work, go to school, tutor and work oh yeah and worry about where our next three points are coming from. The weather forcast for the big c is cold, rain, snow, sleet. Bollox this like. Bitta? Me? whattya you think?

-- Anonymous, February 23, 2001

Syme - you do get your moments, though, like telling a Macky D's, assistant ho wthey ended up in that sorry predicament :) Also, why "asparagus"?

-- Anonymous, February 23, 2001

Are you already in Toon Dougal? If you are, does it look like snow? It's a gorgeous sunny afternoon here, although it's probably only 6°C.

-- Anonymous, February 23, 2001

It's bliddy freezing here tho' sunny. Had a bit of snow last night so wouldn't be surprised if we get more tomorrow. Shouldn't affect the match tho'..... hmmmm I think I said that before the Soton game - what do I know? Anyway - see the usual suspects in the Strawbeery!

Back hyem now - after logging on at Gatwick earlier (and being spoilt by their lightning fast ISDN connection!).

After spending the last week wearing shades, and worrying only about what factor sunscreen to use, what rum drink to order next, and my expanding waistline - I've now only got 24 hours to get mentally limbered up for 't match tomorrow, and the distinct possibility of crowd bother if things don't go well.

Looking out my window the sky is dark steel-grey, but is keeping the temperature up at 5 degrees C; snow showers forecast. Think I'll gan to bed.
