DAILY TOON PREDICTIONS COMPETITION

MATCH 28 – MAN CITY (home)

Here we go again, back into the old routine of football on a Saturday afternoon. I'm not going to dwell on what happened last game, or the Spanish trip since then, suffice to say if this game goes ahead (and it is weather permitting apparently) the lads should be pretty well motivated and raring to go.

I have to admit a case of very split loyalties on this match, the home and away games against City are the two in the season (when we are in the same division of course) that I don't really look forward to. Many of my very good friends are Man City supporters and if you have to own up to supporting a second team, this is my admission.

Having said that, I'd love it, just love it, if we stuffed 'em out of sight. Sorry Eddie, nothing personal mate.

In the three seasons that we have been in the Premier League together, the Toon have won two and we have drawn the other.

So what's it gonna be this time round - Win, lose or draw, correct result and the goal scorer, go on, have a try, it doesn’t hurt, it doesn't cost anything and most of all its harmless fun. Just post you prediction below and the system will automatically enter you into the game.

Closing time for the competition as usual is 15 minutes prior to kick off.

The results in the previous matches have been:

93/94Won 2-0
94/95Draw 0-0
95/96Won 3-1
96/97No Match
97/98No Match
98/99No Match
99/00No Match

Good luck everyone.

Predictions: Man City fans will adopt nauseating stance of fanly sainthood and sing "Where were you when you were shite"? ; there'll be a riot all the way from SJP to Central Station; Steve Howey, Darren Huckerby or Laurent Charvet will score, maybe all three will score; we'll sit in mortifying silence until we score, then we'll behave like we've won the European Cup and sing "Robson Wonderland"; the bloke in front will be constantly getting up for bog and fag breaks and spend the rest of his time bawling at the referee; Screach, Softie, Bill, Jonno, Steph and I will have a few too many in the Strawberry; I won't win the free Season Ticket in the programme. Or else it'll get snowed off. Either way, we won't win on Saturday.

Right-on Dougal. We're going to get cuffed. 0-2 (Well, I predicted victories for us in the last two games!) Shearer will have to come off at half-time because his sun burn is playing up, while Hughes will be off after 10 minutes due to a recurrence of Spanish tummy.

We're gonna get a clean sheet this time and Nobby and Speed will make the two goals.

Shearer will grab 6 in the first 15 minutes, Amoebi will score 2, Nobby with a cheeky 45 yard free kick after 30 minutes. Bob Harris will abandon the game on 32 minutes.

Screach, Softie, Bill, Jonno, Steph and Dougal will get hammered in the Strawberry as Stewart Hall pisses us all off on Grandstand with more pointless waffle about Roylety (sic), Blue moons and other North West shite.

Or same as Gus like normal :-)

A plot losing 7-1 to Newcastle.

Apparently the ground is sold out so I imagine there will be a few City fans in wor end so possible terrace trouble.

She reckons it to be a 1-1 draw with Gary Speed getting wor goal.

Mystic Mag has this down as a 0 - 0 draw with two sent off.

2-0 (Shearer) - no problem.
