He uses spine-chilling onamonapeias to give the reader a suspensful horror feel. For example, in Annabel Lee he uses words such as, "Nevermore" "Shudder" "thunder", and "doom" to give a mysteerious gloomy atmosphere. Yet he is still a romantic becuase he dwells on the past and uses his imaginationa nd deals this nature as a romantic does...: )
