how to capture from sony pc100 (DV) to the computer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have Sony DCR-PC100 and computer (PIII 850/30GB/ElzaErazorII ect. with standard firewire port(build in the motherboard, with Via chipset.)) After plug in, my computer recognizes camcoder as the "standard microsoft DV device". 1) What I have to do for capture movie from SONY?? 2) Where I can find proper software for it?? (Is Adobe Premiere 5.1 enough?)

Thanks for help Piotr (kendi@usa.net)

I have the exact same camera SONY DCR-PC100 and I use Ulead Video Studio 5.0 (there is a free trial on their website www.ulead.com) - It seems to be really easy to work with and edit the video (like premiere 5.1) But Capture is no problem. I think the new 5.0 version will even output the video back to your DV camera after you edit it and add titles/wipes etc.

If you have WIN XP you just use built in Windws Movie Maker, it is not high end solution, but it works fine for small use.
