Netscape 6 and IE: tools of Satan?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Script Brads : One Thread

Aaaggghhhh! I have downloaded Netscape 6.01 for Mac. Every time I attempt to do anything on it (adjust preferences, add buddies to a buddy list, etc), it crashes.

I've had to resort to IE. Anyone else on Mac? Anyone have a browser of preference? Anyone have some Xanax I can borrow?

Let me guess... you used Netscape's *smart* update to get 6, didn't you? It's only smart for Netscape because in order to get your problem fixed you have to pay for a service call. A mere $29. I like the browser but their download system sucks. Spring for the 29 and get the bugs out if you want to keep

I intalled NetScrape 6.0 long enough to learn that I could not set it to cache to a RAM disk. Tried a few of it's other new "features" and ditched it. I'm back to NetScrape 4.76. I suppose it will be my browser for sometime until Netscape/AOhell get their shit together and actually develop a real java browser. I refuse to use Exploder. Microsoft is evil, in case you didn't know...

Cheers.

Crap! Hey, does Opera work on Mac? What other browsers can I use?

I hate to even go back home and attempt anything else on my Mac. Those are three hours of my life I will not get back.

I use Explorer for general things. I hate Microsoft too but... hey... you gotta use something. I also use Netscape for things like stock trading, bank account, bill paying. Download 128 bit instead of 40 and it's more secure. In fact... you may be able to download it in an older version than 6 which may not have as many bugs as the current

Okay, so Opera will be coming out for Mac, but not for a few months. There's not even a beta version available to the public yet.

Waaagghhh! I'm using IE for now, but I am not happy. Ummm...anyone tried Mosaic?
