Can you please discuss how Poe relates or uses Romanticism in his writings The Cast of Amatillado and The Fall of the House of Usher... I can not find or see any way where he used romanticism in his writings. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!! Thank you. Mary

An applicable portion of the definition of Romanticism clearly applies to Poe’s works, and in particular, the stories you mentioned. Romanticism in this context may not necessarily apply to your or modern uses of the word. The most applicable portion of the definition is:

Romanticism - an exaltation of the primitive and the common man, an appreciation of external nature, an interest in the remote, a predilection for melancholy, and the use in poetry of older verse forms.
