Battery pack for EOS 1000FN?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hi all..

Just bought an EOS 1000FN, and am in search of a battery pack that may fit...as Canon didn't make one, I guess I will have to modify one of their existing ones, unless somebody out there knows of one that may fit nicely.

Thanks in advance

Hello Michael,

I made extensive modifications to a BP-50 to fit my EOS 1000FN QD. To make the second shutter release requires opening the case and hard wiring into the EOS 1000FN.

This was discussed on the EOS Mailing List some time ago.

Another option would be to do a small modification to a BP-5. That's the 4 D cell pack for the Eos 5/A2/A2e. It'd be a simple job to change the place the cord comes out of the dummy battery. You'd also have to cut a slot in the battery door or just keep it taped partly closed.

Of course this doesn't give you a vertical grip and the battery pack is connected via a coiled cord. But it does allow large (D size) batteries that can be kept warm under your coat.
