Vikings add administrator

Pioneer Press ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- FROM STAFF AND NEWS SERVICE REPORTS ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- The Vikings bolstered their front office Thursday with the addition of Dave Blando, who will become the team's senior football analyst. Blando will assist administration vice president Rob Brzezinski in managing the Vikings' salary cap and dealing with player contract negotiations. Blando replaces Russ Ball, who took an administrative position with the Washington Redskins last month. Blando spent the past four years managing the salary cap of the Denver Broncos as their director of salary cap and football finance administration. The Broncos have been lauded for their rare combination of fielding a championship-caliber team and for keeping a manageable salary cap. Blando and Brzezinski worked together in Miami. Blando, 40, worked for the NFL's management council before joining the Dolphins. He specialized in salary-cap analysis. One of the reasons Blando left Denver was to move closer to his family in Aberdeen, S.D. Blando is expected to begin working for the Vikings on March 1. -- Bill Williamson

This is a dream come true. Blando is the mastermind behind the Broncos creative caponomics that resulted in two Super Bowl wins and the guy who helped put together the salary cap rules for the NFL.

This is better than signing any FA out ther

This sounds good. Hmmm... This guy gets hired and Red announces Moss trade talks are being postponed. Coincidence? I get the feeling that the decision whether to re-sign or trade Moss has already been made.

(Hmmm... 24 hours in a day - 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?)
