you need to download a vcd player. you can get them for free. I downloaded Cyberlink vcd power player, and it is very good and user friendly. I cannot remember where i got mine from, but there are a few free d'loads at this site (copy and paste)

Download Windows Media Player 7. I have no problem playing .dat files with it. Howie
