where to buy medicinal herbs in bulk?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Does anyone know where I can purchase medicinal type herbs. I do not want capsules, but loose dried herbs. Burdock,Thyme,Ginko ect. I was getting them from Garden Medicinals and Culinaries in Mo. but they have sold out and I have been unable to get an order shipped in the past two months.I am having a really hard time finding a similar type company.I am planing on growing my own in the future but I need some in the meantime. I prefer to make my own capsuls when possible. If any one has any information for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, carla

Carla....I've been buying what I can't grow and I buy by the pound from San Francisco Herb Co. They have most everything and will sell by the pound what most places charge for ounces. You can also buy them rough (not ground up) which I prefer so that I grind them fresh when making up a new batch of gelcaps. They also sell gelcaps in bulk. Get their email address off of yahoo.

Wow, I knew of a few of them, but this is great!

Carla, I'll agree with you on most herbs, I prefer bulk too. If I'm remembering correctly, though, Ginko's active constituants are so dilute in leaf form that if you don't concentrate it, you might as well not bother using it.
