Confession

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I normally mock people who phone in and write to telly/radio shows and newspapers. However, this week, I was so incandescent with rage on Monday that I wrote to the Evening Chronicle. There now, I've confessed.

Nearly wrote to the bbc about the pathetic commentary on tonight's game but reckon that Motson is beyond help. How difficult can it be to learn who the 22 starting players are? What about the research team? Eh? Chuntering away about what a threat Delvecchio is when he has bearly scored this season. The goals they showed him scoring were from 3 seasons ago when he would cup his ears in the "I can't hear you" pose without the pillocks bothering to find out that he was doing that to the Roma fans who booed him for the first half of the season as they saw having him as their front man to be a huge lack of ambition on the part of the club. When are those twats ever going to bother asking the clubs for the correct pronunciation of the players' names?!?!? It drives me wild: I preferred it when they made no attempt at "talking foreign" but now they make useless half-arsed attempts at it which they don't even stick to. I know it's really unimportant in the great scheme of things, and yes, I probably am transferring some anger onto innocent parties, but they get well paid to watch football matches and it's high time they pulled their fingers out and made a decent go at it.

Outraged. Willington Quay.

Not sure I understood the slant of your last posting, Dougal :-)

I'm preparing a letter of complaint to a certain US car rental agency who is not only deceptive in their business practices, but extremely unprofessional in correspondence regarding said practices. I confess I'm transferring alot of other anger into this one cause it's the straw that's broken this camel's back (not to mention purse and nerves).

And while I'm having a whinge (see, I really shouldn't get on the net right after getting home and opening my mail, but I'm too worked up to eat and need to get it off my chest...thanks for indulging me :-)) )...
Softie's rant reminded me of a comment I heard, I think, during our match on Sunday. Annoucer musing on how Domi wasn't available to us right now cause he's been awol since Christmas. Of course, the fact that he was sold has nothing to do with his unavailability. Is it really so difficult? Sheesh.

Softie

If you want the address to write to I can let you have it, the guy who will answer it is a Carlisle supporter who sits about 20 feet from me.......and will probably agree 100%.......we often have discussions and laughs about the way some of the names are pronounced.

Softie,

Its true that Delveccio >>has bearly scored this season<<

You must take into account, however, the fact that he's got a sore head and been hibernating.

Complaining is GOOD!!

After three months of disruption to my new ntl Digital TV service I finally lost patience and looked on the Internet for a list of their Directors in the UK.

I e-mailed him with a copy of a letter which hadn't been replied and his executive assistant quickly called to try to sort it out. They offered me a paltry £25 for three months suscription! Not good enough in my book so I e-mailed him again.

I received a letter in the post, apologising for the disruption and offering me a refund of the three months subscription (Worth £120!!), which I gratefully accepted.

It only needed a new set top box, which made it more annoying.

Hey, Outraged of Willington Quay
Will you kindly stop sounding like me. You young whippersnappers are supposed to reassure grumpy owld gits like me that the last forty years supporting this lot has been worth all the heartache. So howweh, play fair. :-))

Sand dancer....way too technical for a Monday :-)

[Dear BBC. When will people on bulletin boards learn to use the correct spellings of words so as to make their meaning clear. Sarcastic. Turin]

p.s. Another 1-0, does Ancelotti(sp?) deserve a pay rise?

-- Anonymous, February 19, 2001

ITK, best not give me that address or I'll become the bane of your colleague's life. Even worse than Michael Knighton! :-)

Softie,

Yeah. You're right. I shouldn't focus on other people's spellies - even when they're funny (I recall a recent artistic typo by Clarky referring to "value for Monet". Picturesque or what?).

As for Ancelotti - we tifosi are happy to stumble along with some lucky wins. But the Italian Makkems (aka Roma) are still 6 points ahead .............. Bastardi.

Look no further than LR talking about eating room at Old Trafford...damn near soiled myself :-D

It's certainly made Serie A a tad interesting this season having some new faces up there. What about mighty Atalanta, wtf's going on there? Are Inter even less manageable than NUFC? Has Allessandro Del P finally got his head and knees together again? Isn't it worth Roma having their day in the sun just to upset Lazio?

-- Anonymous, February 19, 2001

Softie,

You say <>

Yeah, suppose so. In the same way that its worth the makkems doing well to upset the smoggies?

Del Piero - awesome these days ......and now also scoring! And the way in which he, Zidane, Inzaghi, Davids (and now Trezeguet) are linking is unbelievable. A settled team, the core of which has played together for three (plus) seasons counts for a lot. But not quite as much as the bent Refs who keep making breathtaking misjudgements - invariably in favour of the bianconerii. Most of them really do drive Fiat/Alfa/Lancias, you know.
