My name is Frank Caligiuri. I am probably going to write my research paper for college on how we will never know conclusively what the cause of the death of Edgar Allan Poe was. I have found a few things giving possible causes of his death as alcoholism, drugs, pneumonia, murder, diabetes, rabies, and suicide. My paper needs to be twelve pages long, and counts for 50% of my grade this semester. Anyone have any potential sources they could let me know about? right now in my english class we are learing about poe. we are studying his life, his writings, pretty much everything about him. and as a class we concluded that poe died of rabies. we read an article where ten doctors got together and were given the symptoms of poe's death, but they werent told who the person was. and nine out of those ten doctors agreed that the person they were studying died of rabies.

actually, i found a site where the actual cause of death on his death certificate was "acute congestion of the brain" I believe he was suffering from deveral psychological disorders and they were clogging his brain. Resaearch has shown a correlation between insanity and creativity, you should look into it. Rabies and drugs were definitely not why he did.
