greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

N/C have approached Bradford City over a possible swap deal involving striker Ashley Ward. Toon boss is hoping to use midfielder Glass as bait to lure ex Blackburn marksman Ward. Bantams chief Jim Jefferies has been tracking the 24year old Glass since his arrival at Vally Parade and was today considering his options.Glass who joined N/C from Aberdeen in 1998 has struggled to make an impact at St James's Park and with his contract due to expire at the end of the season the player is looking for a fresh challenge....Two other clubs, thought to be Derby and Barnsley, have also enquired about Ward. A deal could be concluded before the visit of West Ham on Saturday Week.... From. The Yorkshire Evening Post.....

What would we get for Glass on the open market? To be honest, if that equates to Ashley Ward, with a salary equivalent to SG, then I'd simply say "let him go for nowt" at the end of is contract. I'd rather we could make more of his tallent, bu be it injury, attitude or whatever, something seems to be keeing him out of the EPL squad. Skin colour???? But as for Ward - Emergency number 10????

Midas Soccer are reporting that we have been offered Ward and the centre back O'Brien in exchange for Glass, with Robson not interested in Ward but interested in O'Brien.

I can't believe that Bradford would do this when they can get Glass for free in the summer. MS also believe that Glass has started contract talks with an un-named club. This would have to be a 'foreign' club as he is not allowed to talk to other English clubs until the end of this season, I presume it's Scottish club?

FFS. I don't want to play down O'Brien's ability, but as I've never heard of him, and the fact that Bradford seem prepared to let him go, he's hardly the type I'd expect to see in a B&W shirt. I mean - we spent £10M a couple of years ago on CHs. Now we're looking in th ebargain basement. I'd rather keep Goma, Dabs and the bairns we've got until the whole xfr fiasco get sorted out rather than waste space on Bradford rejects.

I wish we couold pick some nobody from obscurity and he'd develop like Elliot at Leicester.

Hyppia was in the press at the weekend, saying the snub he got from NUFC spurred him on an look at him now.
