this evening? Any good Valentine's Day stories? My best is a mate of mine dumping his girlfriend because she was furious that he had sent a Valentine's card because "it is a Capitalist, Consumerist exploitation of women".

However, there's a table set up in the atrium at work that is covered in bunches of uncollected flowers.

Valentines Day only exists to cheer people (mostly women) up during the Post-Xmas lull and general lack of cash!

Yeh I bought a card, another sucker!

Very smart of your mate, dougal. Is he looking for a new girlfriend? I've never had a problem receiving cards from suitors. :-)

What's up with the uncollected flowers? Kind of sad that. The cleaning woman at work is all bubbly this morning and proudly showing off the arrangement of roses, etc she got from her boyfriend.

She got 2 cards through the post this am, two pressies through the post, I'm cooking a French 4-course meal at mine tonight with champers, a lovely piece of jewellery to go with dessert, and a promise of undying love. All I ask in return is for her to let me

Obviously it Susie B then :-)

It's a con, just like mother's day, father's day, May Day, Monday, Tuesday, Every-Dog-Has-It's Day, Wacka Day, Sunday-Monday-Happy Day...

Bought a lovely card last night on my way home, the shop assistant then told me that I had in fact bought a birthday card for my wife and that "Valentines are further up"; Something of a lifesaver really. I tried to book a table at SJP for the valentines special a la carte treat but sadly left it too late for everywhere, luckily this year it was not my job (c:

Take the dog for a walk LR. It's more respectable!

Fair enough LR but what about yer missus?

-- Anonymous, February 14, 2001

Left a card where I knew she would not find it until I left for work, sent flowers to the office so all the others could see.

Came home early and prepared a special meal and put the Champers, Billiecart, in the freezer. Packed the food in the boot of the car, (thats the trunk ciara)

When she gets home and changed from work clothes and we head off for a walk around the river I will have got the champers in the car and at the end of the walk I normally run the last mile so I will set up a table and candles and dinner.

Heart experts recommend sex for Valentine's Day

LONDON (Reuters) - Chocolate will pile on the pounds and the flowers will eventually wilt, but heart experts recommended another way to celebrate Valentine's Day -- sex.

It not only burns up 100 calories but it is also good for a healthy heart.

"We need to take a comprehensive approach to looking after our hearts and that includes quitting smoking, eating a well balanced, healthy diet and exercising at least five times a week," said Professor Charles George, the medical director of the British Heart Foundation.

"There's no reason why sexual activity can't be a vital part of your weekly workout," he added in a Valentine's Day message.

An NOP survey of 1,000 Britons showed that 56 percent of women aged 16-34 years old would prefer a passionate night at home rather than other Valentine treats.

But nearly 50 percent of older women said they would opt for flowers. Only four percent said they would like lacy underwear.

George said patients with heart disease should not be afraid of enjoying a healthy sex life.

"We should remember that sexual activity is not just for the young and fit and that it can still be enjoyed by people who have heart disease. We want patients to understand that resuming their sex life can, and should be, a normal part of their recovery," he added.

Heart disease is the number one killer in Britain and many other industrial countries. Research has shown that people in a loving relationship are less likely to develop heart disease.<<

Sexual activity is for heart patients, they usually have no young children at their age.

My Mrs. has just started getting her shape back (baby is 9 months old) and I have plans for tonight but most likely it will be delayed a few weeks until baby's teeth come out.

LR, good luck tonight- I want M.United and Panathinaikos to advance so put the Spanish out and take good care of Vahovic (if he plays).

LR - Such a Charmer!!! Just reading this thread and the BBS XI!!! Seriously though, it'd be good to see the ManU win tonight - and good luck with any celebrations that may follow!!! (;o)

A pal of mine used to send rather tasteful art-cards, anonymously, to every woman he knew and found remotely attractive (in his case rather a lot). His theory was that should he ever have a chance to get, shall we say, intimate with one of them at a crucial moment he would drop the fact he'd sent the card, which usually impressed. I thought it rather cynical (though in his case it did seem to work). One year I sent a card to a lass I'd had my eye on for ages but it had been completely unrequited..... that is until i confessed i'd sent her the card. We ended up living together got 2 years.

The CL is free to air on Wednesdays in France (Canal+ on Tuesdays), but as I'll be at rugger practice I'll miss the live PSG match. The Man U game will be shown delayed after that, so I'll be watching that.

My daughter got an anonymous card this morning. The message was a rather disturbing, manic scrawl in red felt tip, saying 'Be Mine'. I'll let the culprit off though, since he's only 4.
