What exactly is the FL-D filter?

I know a FL-D filter allows using fluorescent lighting with film meant for daylight. But Kodak lists all sorts of color correcting filters for various kinds of fluorescent light bulbs. For example, the color correcting filter for soft white fluorescents is different from the other kinds.

So, my question is: What exactly is the general purpose FL-D filter? Exactly what color correcting filters does it contain?

The Kodak filtration will give better colour correction, because you really need a correction for each different type of fluorescent tube.
The most obvious effect of any fluorescent lighting is a strong green cast, and the general purpose FL-D filter just gets rid of this. It's about the equivalent of a CC30M filter, but probably varies from one make of filter to another.
The correction is really only close for 'daylight' or 'cool white' rated tubes. Warm white and colourmatch tubes will need different corrections.
