I have no idea what the poem "Eldorado means, I suppose it has to do with searching your whole life for one thing and never truly finding it...but i would like to know the whole analysis

To pursue a treasure, to seek with an ever-increasing want for something, only to find that what drives the desire cannot be had. "Over the Mountain of the Moon, and Down in the Valley of the Shadow" hints that the golden city, El Dorado (metaphorically the wish for what cannot be fulfilled) only exists in imagination, and that his life-long hope to find the city is shattered upon learning that in our physical world it does not exist. i don't really know but i think that it means that a man is lookin for eldorado and its gold that it is thought to have. then he lives his life , and never finds the gold b/c he gets over come with greed.
