Does anyone know if the writers were setting up a future story line based on Abby letting the air out of her ex's tires?

It seemed noteworthy that neither she nor Carter retrieved the pen used on the tire after she slipped and bumped her head. My first thought was, "That pen has 'Dr. John Carter' printed on it."

The ex-husband certainly seems petty enough to cause as much grief as possible if he had such evidence.

Anybody who is stupid enough to have their car TOWED for a flat tire is not going to be smart enough to pick up an ink pen at the "scene of the crime." Why on earth did he have the car towed? I've had wrecker drivers change tires for me, it was all part of the Roadside Assistance Program that came with my new car.

And Andreaux, if the fashion police were going to arrest Abby, they would have done it for wearing a bridemaids dress to a formal ball. (Stupid girl! You should have taken Carter's offer for the new dress!)

Well, if Abby hadn't said that it was a bridesmaid dress, would we have known it was one?

What if Carter had just ACCIDENTALY dropped the pen? Richard would have no idear id it was an accident ir not. (Just curious, but how do you know the pen said 'Dr John Carter' on it. Was the words readable?)

The car might have been towed for a flat tire because the spare might have been flat. Those little spares that in many cars are like bicycle tires... they have to be checked for air often.

But, at the least, the tow truck driver should have had a way to inflte the spare... good grief.

This is me being charitable. Since even I have changed a tire (after someone shouted to me the tire was flat, I thought the steering had gone bad)... with two kids under 3 in the car and dear hubby on a business trip!

Ritaann: In answer to your question about whether or not "John Carter" was printed on the pen...

There is no mention that his name is written on the pen, nor does the camera show us. Al we know is that his pen is left at "the scene of the crime" so to say. I think it was just the thought most people had. Of course, we won't know until next week! :)

I REALLY think people are reading too much into this... the purpose of the scene was obviously to establish the fact that Carter and Abby can have spontaneous fun together, NOT to introduce another angsty plotline. Sheesh!

"reading too much into this..." I hope you're right. My point is the whole pen thing stuck out weirdly. If it's not brought up again, then it was an odd distraction; if it _is_ another angsty plotline, that was a clumsy way to have it introduced.
