Man City game, crowd reaction

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

The crowds support for the Man City game is going to be very fragile. The game that Dalglish blew it was at home to Charlton, it wasn't losing to them taht upset people it was that this was the first game after the Cup final and we hadn't had a chance to get it out of our system.

Most of us will have seen the Charlton game, and most of us will still be livid.

A not completely unlikely scenario is that the team that turns out will have at least 9 of the players from Sunday. Griffin in for Barton, Goma in for **%^&*. Maybe Shearer back.

How long will it take Speed to look crap, how long before Lee or Dyer or Solano disappear ?

Will the crowd turn on the players ? I'm already getting a dodgy reputation in the Family Enclosure as someone who doesn't like Gary Speed. It won't take much for others to join in.

It really would be awful if we turned on the players as they are our current representatives in black and white. I don't know how to make my feelings known other than by having a go. Three years ago I absolutely blamed Dalglish, I struggle to have the same hatred of Robson, but "something's gotta change". If me screaming at Speed prompted him to ask for a transfer I'd be delighted.

I'd hate to hear the crowd really turn on them, silence is probably far worse. But they really have put the pressure on themselves to perform next week. To quote Bobby, they're "out of their heads" if they think the crowd will accept anything less than a fully committed performance. Another performance like yesterday and I wouldn't blame anyone for booing.

Hopefully BR will listen to the fans and give the seniors a game off. That way we can see if Griff is better than Barton, Caldwell is better than Marcelino, Bassedas is better than Lee, and Dyer is better in midfield than Speed, with Sherear playing alongside Ameobi.

If Bobby Robson couldn't see that Barton is off form over the past few weeks what makes everyone so sure that he won't get the nod over Griffin at Man City!!!?

He'll get another chance and fuck it up and then we will be in the dung. Old boys act, can't do nowt about it, for a manager renowned for giving youth it's chance Robson is neglecting one of our most promising young players in Griffin. That lad could have secured a place in the England team this year if he'd been given the chance.

At least Griffin tries to pass a ball going forward then moving, Barton just humps it up then rushes towards the player he's just passed to! Griffin has shown his outstanding marking qualities and the nail in the coffin for me was when Barton, on a yellow, card was allowed to continue against Chelsea when Gronkjaer came on and started to run our defence ragged.
