Can I make my Laserdisc in VCD or MPEG-1 format?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I got over 100 laserdiscs and would like to share them with my friends either copying into VCD or save in my server in MPEG-1 for remote video streaming, anybody can provide me the method? Many Many Thanks!

Unlike DVD which has digital MPEG-2 data that can be downloaded (or ripped) into your hard disc and then re-encode to MPEG-1, Laserdisc is pure analog video and audio.

To convert, you will need an MPEG-1 capture card like the DVC (if you are on the budget), or the MPEGator if you have more to spend.

Streaming is simple enough. Go to MS and download their media tools package. You will still need a capture device to stream live/analog video. If you just want to distribute video via the Web, that can also be done.

If you have a server connected to the Web and will pay for the bandwidth, do I have a (legal) proposition for you! Contact me off line.
