02/10/2001 A telephone outage left residents and businesses around Seligman and the Grand Canyon unable to call out much of Friday, including any 911 calls.

The problem was traced to an outage in Qwest Communications' central office in Williams.

Service was restored by early afternoon.

Spokesman Mark Genrich said those in the affected areas could call each other but couldn't call outside the area until the repair was completed about 1:30 p.m.
