Loan man impresses

Newcastle's Des Hamilton, currently on loan with Tranmere, is improving so much that he is attracting attention from Premiership Clubs. The players current good form is attracting scouts from premiership clubs now showing an interest in the midfielder who will become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Tranmere manager John Aldridge is not surprised there is growing interest in the Northern Ireland International, the Rovers boss saying: "Des is getting better game by game..he's a quality player and is going to be worth his weight in gold to us ...you can see why Newcastle paid one and a half million pounds to sign him from Bradford four years ago"

Hamilton, who is in his second spell on loan at Prenton Park, has now fully recovered from the serious knee and ankle ligament damage he sustained while playing for Tranmere against Leeds United in October, and while he admits he is enjoying his loan spell with the club, it is unlikely John Aldridge will have the financial clout to compete with premiership clubs for the players signature at the end of the season.

Can only be good news...

Teamtalk also says that Bobby Robson might be trying to snatch Pablo Paz from under the feet of Everton.

They say Bobby still wants him and now that Domi's sale has provided him with some spare cash, Paz is a possible target once more.

I never knew Des was Irish? Any relation to Brian Hamilton????

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

Aye Des is Bryan's son;)

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

Yes i can certainly see a subtle resemblance between our 'Disco Des' and 'Badass Brain'.

err Brian even....thats what u get for being ridiculously sarcastic :-)

Surely related to "Diddy" David Hamilton...??

If Aldridge wants him, then let him stump up the £1.5m that we did. Let's face it, if he makes it to a PL club he'll only end up becoming a thorn in our side whoever we play. At least at Tranmere there'd only be Cup clashes with which to embarass us.

There is no way in which Tranmere could afford Hamilton unless they sell Koumas for example, who has been watched by a number of Premiership clubs and scored that excellent goal against Everton in the FA Cup.

Swap deal? Only trouble is I think he's a central midfielder.

I'm tempting fate by talking about it but getting rid of this bag of shite would be a dream come true for me....

Getting money for him as well!! This would be on a par with Bobby Robson's master stroke of getting shot of Maric for £2 million.

I'd put it on a par with Jim Smith selling John Robertson back to Hearts for the same 750,000 grand that we'd paid for him.

>>it is unlikely John Aldridge will have the financial clout to compete with premiership clubs for the players signature at the end of the season.

What "premiership clubs"? Why haven't they come in for him before?

I can't believe we're letting my favourite player go so cheaply. Des has been dubbed by many "The Irish Maldini" and has never let us down. This dreadful decision will return to haunt us I promise you.

"Super Des" to leave?

News that toon favorite Derek Hamilton known as "Super Des " is likely to leave Newcastle has not gone down well on Tyneside. Tranmere Rovers boss John Aldridge is hoping to prize "Wor DES" away from Newcastle by offering Bobby Robson a six figure sum (believed to be six zero's) for one of his star reservists. Dozens of fans were congregating within the Strawberry pub this lunchtime contemplating what action they could take over this latest plan to sell off one of our most talented youngish players. "Life without Superdes in the reserves at Kingston park will be unbearable, I'll probably stop going to see them now", said John Windybush, lifelong reserves fan ." It's Bitter," added Stuart Reacher of Blyth "I asked for larger" he went on ....

Will Bobby be brave enough to show his face on the steps at St James? I'm sure there may be at least one casual bystander who might look his way and be misconstrued as a Des Hamilton loyalist.

Selling Andy Cole was bad enough but selling "super Des" would be unforgivable. If it happens I think I'll start a campaign to oust Bobby Robson.

I'll have youse all know that on Sky Super Soccer Saturday or whatever alliterative tripe they have as their moniker, the commentator bloke kept saying that Des was bossing the midfield... Be just our luck, if he ends up playing for Real Madrid and wins a EC Cup medal with them..

If Des is really turning in some great performances for Tranmere, then maybe we could invite loan offers for clubs further up the table and see if he can make such an impact at that club. I don't think Tranmere are serious about buying due to their financial difficulties.

Maybe he should move to a club where he has a decent chance of actually securing a move.

Note at this point that I am in no way suggesting that we take him back. He's had his chance.

Just can't see anyone spending pound notes on this comedian - we'll be stuck with him until his contract runs out, we give him away for nowt, or in exasperation just buy up his contract and tell him to bog off.

Bobby got rid of Lionel. Can Bobby get rid of Dessie?
All together boys and girls....

Yes, he can! ;-)
