It is nice to see the weather returning to normal!

Yep; too many years of soft weather. We now have a severe weather watch [tornadoes and such]. It hasn't been above f/2 all day. This will be followed by a ice storm warning and a heavy snow warning [Weather Service].

God, I love it. Winter is supposed to be this way. I was getting bored by those warm winters.

Cheers,,,,

Z,

Funny, our weather here has been unseasonably mild for the past few days. Maybe Global Warming runs a circuit or something. :)

We hit 70 degrees here today; sunny, beautiful. Of course, now that I think about it, that's about normal for Alabama. It's SUPPOSED to be warm here!

Spring in Birmingham is one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. I love it here.

SNOW !!!! WE GOT SNOW!!!
For a few hours, at least. From 1am until early afternoon we got snow. It was pretty, it was cold, then it was gone.

We haven't even been getting the rain we usually do, so the dams aren't going to be able to produce the power we will need throughout the summer.

Cherri,

Maybe you'll have the same luck we did -- in October, we had mandatory water controls in most localities because of a terrible drought. Heavy rains the past few weeks (including another heavy downpour tonight) have helped ease things a bit. Let's hope so, anyhooo.

I've always been amazed at how localized these things can be. When I was a kid growing up, it would snow in Pinehurst/Southern Pines (the big golf resort) just 20 miles away, and all we'd get is a cold rain or sleet.

Even here during the "drought," parts of Alabama were so dry that the ground was cracked, and just 20, 30 miles up the road, the ground would be saturated.

Of course, if you want water, all y' gotta do is grow watermelons. :)

(Heh.)

Cherri:

I was at Baker in Jan. Snow looked really low compared to what I remember. I was told that it was better than Crystal. I understand that the Skagit is really low on water.

Poole:

So you are from the sand hills. I have valued relatives there. They are members at Pinehurst. I wouldn't pay the normal prices but love the place. More black widows than I have seen anywhere else in the country.

Cheers,,,,,,

I just wish Memphis would dry up for a while. Weather has been wet and nasty for three months, with short breaks. I've even had a light case of pneumonia, because of all the cycles of wet, cold, wet, dry, wet, warm, cold wet.
