What is pullman bread?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Bread.com FAQ : One Thread

I have a recipe that calls for pullman bread. Don't know what that is? Where do you find it and is there another name for it? Thanks

Pullman bread is a thin-crusted, square-cornered, close grained, soft white bread baked in a Pain de Mie (Pullman loaf pan)...so called because this type of bread was served on the old pullman railroad cars. It is a lidded pan, 13x4x4 which makes a 1-1/2 pound loaf.
