annulments

How long does an annullment usually take if everything is "peaceful" and no arguments are made? Also, does it help it move along quicker if the ex-spouse doesn't reply to their questions they are sent?

I suppose that someone may offer you their own personal experience (or that of a friend or relative), Mary, but the problem is that there is no way to predict whether or not you would have the same experience.
I understand that the time varies from diocese to diocese -- and it varies again, according to the facts in the case. There could be a range as broad as from six months to two years.

According to what I have read, your diocese's tribunal will make a decision. Then that will be automatically sent, as if "on appeal," to another tribunal. Usually there is agreement, ending the process. But if there is disagreement, a third (higher) Church court must look into it. So there would be that chance of delay -- though probably much less of a chance if there are "no arguments" (as you described).

I think that you would do well to ask your questions of your pastor, or, if you prefer, you can call your bishop's office (chancery) and ask to speak to a member of the tribunal. They could give you a better time estimate than we can.
God bless you.
John

My only suggestion is if questions are asked of a person that they answer them truthfully and clearly. Not answering if one has knowledge of the information being sought enters into the area of intentional deception.
