Goma in French Squad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

According to today's Ronnie, Alain goma has been recalled to the full French International Squad for the game against Germany on Feb 27.
His place clearly depends on his hand injury not utlimately ruling him out, which would be a real tragedy for the blerk.

This may, of course, also persuade him that playing for the Toon isn't all that bad.

He presently has two full caps for France.

Terrific news! You can play well for Newcastle and still get called up by the World and Europena champions, I hope this might persuade Goma to secure his future at the club.

Domi Hah!

A bit harsh Gav. Goma has never struck me as a shirker. He's played on with a broken nose and had "an appliance" fitted to his hand only this week to get him back playing quickly. He also kept his desire to leave NUFC under wraps, even tho he told theclub at the beginning of the season. Hopefully, thi will do hos confidence the world of good and as Clarky says, my realise that an international career doesn't end when you come north of the Humber.

Goma has worked his b*ll*cks off for us when fit and isn't one of the moaners. Congrats to him. Hope he does get his hand sorted so he can play for France AND for us.

Whichever way you look at it, it's good news. If Goma is playing for France regularly, there is no doubt he'll be confident and happy.

The only worry would be if a big club like Barcelona, Lazio etc came in for him as he would probably go. Saying that, playing all the time for France would push his market value up.

Good luck to him in the team though, he's been one of our best this season.

Extracts from Nufc.****Alain Goma has been called up to the French squad to take on the Germans in gay Paris on February 30th . This news comes just days after a new cast was put on his hand which should enable him to play in a fortnight rather than the six weeks that had originally been expected. The 28 year old will be allowed to try and earn his 3rd International cap as long as he plays in the previous Newcastle match against Manchester City on the 24th. Another condition of him going back to France is the insistence by Newcastle that he wears a satellite tracking device so that he can kept tabs on at all times by Newcastle United. "Well, He might not come back" insisted a toon insider today "you kna what happened the last time one of our players went to Paris. We're not taking any risks this time, so we've fitted a device on his hand that emits a signal, so we know where he is at all times. He thinks it's to protect his hand as he's broke a bone, Divent tell him will yer?"

Gav.....I know the reports about Goma originally said six weeks, but we were running the story on the Daily Toon on Wednesday about him having a scan and the fact that he has had a special cast put on it and that he will be back sooner rather than later........he could even make it for Sunday at Charlton, although that seems unlikely.

It could be argued that he suddenly found it wasn't as bad as first thought cos he got wind of the cap coming his way, but I honestly don't think thats true......he has never been one to feign injury and sit back, far as I'm concerned he has always given 110%......

His fellow countryman on the other hand fares very well indee in the shirking stakes, if you read THE DAILY TOON you'll see what I mean.
