What kind of milk do you drink? Do you drink just one kind, or can you drink other types?

I like 1 1/2% or 2% milk. [More selectively, Oakhurst, a Maine-based company, is my favorite brand.] Whole and skim milk both just make me want to vomit...

i like soy and rice milk in very limited quantities. or in cereal.as far as cowmilk goes, i usually drink chocolate milk or skim. but i don't partake very often because it makes me sick. ugh freaking dairy products.

Raised on whole. Can't stand anything else, but I cannot drink the shit straight. On the RARE times I do drink it, it's gotta be chocolate. Go figure.

i used to only drink rice/soya milk because i was vegan, but now i drink skim because i don't like the thickness of regular. and i always use rice milk in food (like mash potatoes and mac and cheese) because my boyfriend is still vegan.

I'm not actually picky at all about milk, thereby debunking your theory. :P I tend to buy nonfat, but I'd be just as happy drinking 1% or 2%, and I'm okay with whole, though it's a little rich for me, so I wouldn't want to drink it a lot. I enjoy soy and rice milk, too (I especially like rice ice "cream".) I kind of like those chug milk bottle things, but that's just because I enjoy drinking right from the container (but I live alone so it's not actually an inconsiderate thing to do.) Also, I won't buy brands that aren't organic, but that's not a taste thing.

SKIM!!

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

Dude, You're crazy about the milk thing. It doesn't matter to me. My family has always got 2% but like, I'd rather drink ANY other kind than 2% but like, that's what they've always bought so when I drink milk, I drink that but That's the worst kind so like, It doesn't matter. You're right about the tampons thing but w/ the milk, I just don't get it.

I still love ya anyway though. =)

I'm all about the Skim milk. I tried 2% once. Didn't like it. I tried whole once and almost gagged. Skim all the way.

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

what are the percentages for? i'm lactose intolerant and consequently don't pay attention to those things.

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

i believe (i'm not sure, so nobody jump on me like a pack of wild animals :D) its the fat content.

2% all the way!!

Chocolate milk. Straight milk is ok, but it leaves me with a bad after taste, and like water, the taste is nothing to write home about. Also, I did once see a show where a guy punished someone by making them eat several pastries without drinking milk. Why milk? Surely a glass of water washes that stuff down alot better than milk? Whatever. I'm a juice junkie.

Milk's milk... except for skim milk which is nothing more than water with white food coloring... *yeck*...

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

I grew up with whole milk, so naturally I prefer it, but I can drink 2%. Which is good, because that's all my fiancee ever buys.

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

I HAVE TO DRINK 2%! I don't like whole, I don't like 1%, skim milk is like water. I don't even like CHOCOLATE milk. And can anyone drink milk on ice? My grandparents do, and I think it is SO disgusting. But to each his own, I guess.

I used to think that 2% was the best. I switched to skim when I was a teen cause I liked drinking milk WAY too much and my doc said, "Ummm... Cut down on the fat buddy." Anyway, now I can't drink anything else except for the occasional 2% if there isn't a choice. Whole milk on the other hand is just too much. Every time I drink it all I can think is that it tastes like someone put a handful of lard into a blender with water and handed it to me.

My family switched from whole milk to non-fat milk when I was about 8 years old. We did it all at once not gradual. One week we were drinking whole and the next we were drinking non-fat. It didn't take too long to get used to it. Any other kind of milk and I can feel the thick fat rolling down my throat and coating it. It makes me want to gag.

I used to drink skim. . .now I have to buy 2% because Jeremy used to drink whole milk and I really can't go from skim to whole because its just too damn chunky. So I compermise and Jeremy bitches. . .Ahhh total harmony

Don't worry jen, you're right about the fat content thing. :)

I drink soy or lactose-free milk (soy at home, lactose-free at my parents' home). I prefer the chocolate soy. Yay for being lactose- intolerant.

When I was in early elementary school, at a small Catholic school, we had to specify what kind of milk we were going to drink for the WHOLE year, because they only bought enough milk for one for each person at school (unless you bought two). So, like, if some kid was sick one day, there was an extra carton of milk. Anyway, I started with green milk (skim), and my best friend had blue (2%) milk. One day, I decided I wanted to be cool just like her, so I informed the principal that my mother wanted me to drink blue milk from now on. He said ok, and I switched. It was DISGUSTING!!!

The coolest kid in our class drank red (whole) milk. So the next day, I told the principal that my mother had actually meant red milk. He said ok. I just about died. He watched me drink that, and the next day, I got my good old green milk.

Anything not skim is like drinking Elmer's Glue...mmm....the feeling of Elmer's Glue sliding down your throat....

Oh, a side note: I became lactose-intolerant from not drinking milk...it was a developed condition.

two puhcent, yo

Whole milk - anything else is unamerican.

But I'm a tad intolerant (gives me heartburn like nobody's business), so it's only on occasion.

-- Anonymous, February 08, 2001

i am lactose intolerant like nobody's business, so i usually drink soy milk. edensoy for plain, silk for chocolate or vanilla, occasionally almond milk chocolate.

i never liked milk much anyway, so i just use it in cooking.

while i'm being high and mighty for absolutely no reason on every post, i guess i should say DAIRY IS RAPE !!!

-- Anonymous, February 09, 2001

heh. funny.

i like the skim milk.

-- Anonymous, February 09, 2001

I drink Skim Milk now to save on fat:-) I will drink any kind but Whole Milk though...that stuff is disgusting!!!

-- Anonymous, February 09, 2001

Up until I was 12 or so, I drank 2% and then when my mom became a health freak she switched everyone to 1%. I can't really tell the difference. Hey, if it's less calories, I'll drink it.

-- Anonymous, February 09, 2001

I grew up on 2%. You know, the one thats full of fat. The one that give you cottage cheese legs. Now I drink 1%.. its as low as I can go. Im able to down fat free if its on cereal or something, but then its like drinking water.... Yuck.

-- Anonymous, February 09, 2001

2% isn't full of fat, dude. It's "reduced fat" -- if you want "full of fat," drink whole. Yiiiiiick.

-- Anonymous, February 09, 2001

I grew up on drinking 1%, which is just fine with me whenever. I cannot drink 2% or whole, though..for the same objections everyone else has. Now that I'm on my own though, I buy skim because I don't find it to be too different than 1%..and super cold, it is fabulous stuff.

Funny story about elementary school milk-- so when I was growing up we'd have milk twice a day, once at snack time, once at lunch. Well, for approximately 7 years straight, I drank chocolate milk twice a day. It was really the only milk I would tolerate. I can't stand it now and I refuse to drink it, no matter what. I find it absolutely too sweet and vile.

Live and learn?

I went through a "must eat nothing but healthy food" crisis in 3rd grade (I'm bizarre) and found out that our white milk was 2% and the chocolate was skim, and therefore healthier.

I had a point. I swear. Damn.

-- Anonymous, February 10, 2001

People keep saying things like "I grew up on 1%." and I keep thinking "1% wasn't around when we were kids." Then it dawned on me that it wasn't around when I was a kid and that ya'll are probably younger then me. Who knew that a conversation about milk could make me feel old? heh

-- Anonymous, February 12, 2001

iiiiiiiick... milk is SO gross. i'm like famous among my friends for getting the shakes whenever the word is even mentioned. the worst was last year when another teacher brought my economics teacher a glass of milk and a brownie right in the middle of class. my teacher let that damn glass of milk sit there for twenty minutes before he even touched it... i almost passed out. as if cold milk isn't bad enough, warm milk honestly makes me faint. ew. ew. ew.

-- Anonymous, February 18, 2001

2%.

I took ONE drink of whole milk at one point in my life. I gagged. Seriously. It produced the same backwash-vomiting-heaves effect that cough medicine and NyQuil produce with me.
