Shola & Vidoe of Leeds v. NUFC

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

O.K. watched the Leeds game again last night and picked up on something that put me off a bit.

Watch Shola run to the Toon dugout after he scores. He's all happy, team mates jumping all over him. He gets to the dugout, some one gives him a pat on the head etc. Then Shola walks away from the dugout looking like a whipped dog. Robson's got this unhappy/wrath of god look on his face. Shola repeatedly looks back over his shoulder at the dugout with a sullen expression, sort of like "can't I do anything right".

I wonder what's going on between the two?

Maybe Robson told him to get a grip? Rememember Aaron's first (and erm, penultimate) goal for us - ran over to the crowd and kissed his Toon badge as I recall. Maybe Robson told him that before running to the dugout he might have acknowledged the Toon supporters who were going mental with joy for him? Dunno, like, but I was a bit sad that Shola didn't really share it with the supporters.

What I mean is that Shola didn't acknowledge the Toon fans at all during his goal celebrations - maybe Bobby was having words about that. Or maybe it was because the game had restarted and he was still celebrating :o)

Bobby is a total proffessional - l'm sure he wanted him to save the posing about for when we've won. I will never forget watching Martin O'Neill waving his fist in a YEEESSSSS YOU BASTARDS' way at Terry Mac when Leicester went 3-1 up against us with ten minutes left. Ten minutes later it was 4-3 and what a pratt O'Neill looked like.

There's that, too, Swifty. I think YBR is a bit uncomfortable with the whole Shola thing - I mean several games for us and all of a sudden, it's like, will he play for England or Nigeria?

Well I don't know what went on either - but I do remember that when Dyer scored at 'Boro he ran or at least signaled to the dugout with joy. This had been after he'd been criticized for not scoring often enough. I guess he was keen to acknowledge Mr. Robson for his coaching and I think Amobi may have had same feelings. But Mr. Robson is too professional with a "lets get on with the next lesson, lad" approach.

I reckon it was just to keep the youngster's feet on the ground. A magnificent start to his first team career is creating lots of talk about England places.

Reckon YBR wanted to bring back to earth - possibly the acknowledging the crowd thing too...
