What Concerts Have You Been To?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : notestoall : One Thread

I went to my very first concert back in August for: Nine Days, Vertical Horizon and Third Eye Blind. I really, really, really want to go to this concert for Godsmack. Really. Who have you been to see? If not, why not?

I have been to so many I can't remember them all but ones that stand out are:
Loverboy in 9th grade
Rick Springfield in 9th grade, I cried during this one
Rick Springfield again in 10th grade
KISS/Dokken in 1984, 10th grade, we got right up front row. Oooh la la. Paul Stanley is such a stud.
Bryan Adams
Bon Jovi/Ratt
Ozzy Osbourne/Anthrax/Lita Ford
INXS
The Cult
Foreigner/Cheap Trick/Loverboy reunion tour, it was kinda pathetic but Foreigner rocked

I had tickets once to see Poison but the jerks cancelled!!!

I also didn't go see Cher in my 8th month of pregnancy, I was too scared after reading about in-utero hearing loss of the fetus. :-( I sold my tickets which were excellent ones. *sigh*

I have seen many semi-popular bands in the rock clubs out in Los Angeles. Those concerts are actually best because you are right up there with the band.

How could I forget to mention Guns N Roses? I think it was 1990 or thereabouts. Skid Row opened up, and they were awesome. GnR was 2 hours LATE and the crowd was pissed! We almost left. LOL And when Axl came out, he was such a jerk. But they sounded pretty good. I had such a blast at and after the concert. heehee

In the past 3 years, I have turned into a concert junkie. I never went to very many concerts as a teenager/young adult, but a couple of years ago I finally gave myself permission to "waste" the money and see the bands I wanted to see. There are so many bands/artists I would have liked to have seen in years gone by who are either split up/not touring anymore. I consider it money well wasted now!

Since 1997, I've seen:

Counting Crows (4 times) The Wallflowers Barenaked Ladies Sugar Ray Goo Goo Dolls (2 times) Semisonic Live Better Than Ezra Dave Matthews Band (2 times) Collective Soul (2 times) Fastball Def Leppard 3 Doors Down Hootie & the Blowfish Sister Hazel Blues Traveler (eh)

Like I said, a concert junkie!

In March, I'm going to see Vertical Horizon and Sister Hazel at the Ryman in Nashville.

I'm waiting for tickets to go on sale Friday for the Matchbox Twenty/Everclear show in Memphis (I GOTTA GO TO THIS ONE).

I'm bidding on a pair of Barenaked Ladies tickets on eBay.

I'm going to try to get tickets to see David Gray in either New Orleans or Dallas in May.

So far....!

I haven't been to too many - the prime concert going years (teens), my parents always had a reason why I couldn't. But, I've been to:

Barry Manilow (shaddup), 1981

Saw Bon Jovi and Lita Ford at a benefit concert in Ramstein Germany for the Ramstein Air Show victims.

Saw America at a free concert put out by the USO after Desert Storm.

Saw Pink Floyd in Arizona, then again here in DC (same concert - we moved while they were making the circuit).

In the last couple years, I've been to an Alan Parsons/Yes concert, a Doobie Brothers/Chicago concert and a couple of Rick Springfield concerts.

dang... I don't think I've seen anyone who wasn't around when I was in H.S., even if I never got to go back then!

I uh, LIKE Barry Manilow. ANd if there was one concert that I could say I'd been to it would have been Pink Floyd. Y'all are some concert going people.

I didn't realize how .... incredible it is to be at one until I actually WAS at one. GnR would have been awesome too! And I wanted to go to the Everclear/Lifehouse one too but can't swing it financially right now. One day!

I've seen Barenaked Ladies and Rush three times each. I've also seen (in no particular order) Foreigner, Kansas, Dio, Kiss (twice), Barry Manilow, Melissa Etheridge (twice), Crash Test Dummies, Air Supply, Al Jarreau and probably a couple more that I'm forgetting.
