Corinthian League

Just wondering if this marvellous competition is going to be running. No-one seems to have mentioned it for ages so I hope that Softie doesn't drop it through apparent lack of interest from everybody. I for one thoroughly enjoyed it (not just because my team pulled a blinder last season I hasten to add!!)

P.S. Did my team selection get through?

To be honest, there wasn't enough interest to run a full league, so I was going to drop it, but I received a couple more entries the other day and will endeavour to top it up with some ringers if necessary. There has to be at least 75% genuine teams though or it won't be worth it. Too mnay for 1 division and not enough for 2...glad I got rid of the third.

I haven't entered my team yet.

Can't remember whether I have either - don't think I have. Still waiting for a fitness report from the knackers yard before I'm committed.

If Softie's too busy Geordie, you can fix organise the BBSCL as well. Or perhaps Herr Pilgrim?

Just wondering again... if some of the apparent apathy towards the competition is because of the lack of 'interactivity' beyond the original team pick, i.e. once half the season is over the fates of many teams seems to be set when various picking strategies have worked/failed. Would it be possible to introduce some sort of 'tactics' system (transfers are out of the window because of the limited player pool and the complexity of keeping track). For example each team has a strategy (long ball, possession football etc a la footie manager games). This strategy could then be changed or left through the season as managers see fit. The system could then be used on a match by match basis in a kind of rock/paper/scissors match up, i.e. tactic a beats tactic whic beats c which beats a. Just an idea?

It would be a real shame if this BBS institution disappeared.

Tom, you're dead right that it's complicated enough already. I think that having actual fixtures against the other players sets this head and shoulders above other ff games and I'm hoping that the split between attacking and defending points should make it more interesting....I thought that removing all the teams except NUFC was a bit of a winner as well :-)

I agree Softie, I particularly like the comp for the reasons you mention. I was just wondering why more people haven't signed up for another season - is it worth putting up a list of those who have entered so far as some people may think they have entered when they haven't etc.?
