FAO MacBeth and anyone who's read the official mag

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I note that the club aren't running with an elected fan representative for fans who travel great distances to games. This is a shame, I fully planned to vote for MacBeth. MacB, are you going to stand for election as a season ticket holder anyway? Anyone else fancy standing? Clarky? Softie? Jonno if you're back in the Toon?

I was a bit disappointed too.

I'm tempted by the 'bringing child' one, but feel that we are a bit remote to have the same interests that your average dad taking child on Tyneside would have.

If they had had a 'travelling a long way' one then the next challenge would have been getting 30 season ticket holders signatures. How, for example, would I get your signature Dougal.

I was amazed at their analysis of the questionnaire results as it seems they had ~7500 replies and 27% would be prepared to be a representative !!

I'm not put off though, and I'm thinking hard about being a general member, and I'll emphasise the fact that I would have stood as a traveller. As for the 30 signatures, well Ben makes one, and then I'll just canvas up and down the 12:00 GNER from Edinburgh, there must be 50 odd of us each game and even if we don't all chat we all smile knowingly at each other. And then there are all those kids in the familt enclosure who I'm sure would sign anything for a bribe of a packet of sweeties :0)

Well, I suppose in the interests of democracy, we could all hang around your turnstile, pen in hand, to put our pawprints in the necessary box :)

.........or you could come to the pub and bribe us. Ben could talk to the bouncers.

I think we should all get behind a single candidate and try to get the voice of the bbs, exiled and overseas fans represented.

Who shall we nominate ? MacBeth, Clarky, Jonno, Softie, any others

Rik

I think there that more than one of your suggested nominees merits a place. Jonno is old and worldly and single-minded in his Newcastleness and deserves a place. And what about Steph as the token female and car-lurker.

It isn't clear (to me anyway) whether you get 13 votes, or just one.

MacBeth, Is anyone other than yourself interested? If we could get Jonno, Clarky and yourself onto thew commitee then we could make a big impact. I'm sure if we put our heads together we could come up with some strategy's to get not only the 30 votes, but to get a few hundred votes.

The problem as I see it is the likes of the mag and the other fanzines will have thier own candidates who will get a lot of exposure.

I'd have thought and hoped that Mark Jensen would stand...

Mark Jensen has as much passion as anyone else but he wouldn't necessarily be interested in this. Alan Harrison who helps him a lot has an excellent head on his shoulders, is a clever guy, understands PR and marketing and would fit perfectly. He would be my choice if there had to be someone from The Mag stable. Well, after Billy Furious anyway :0)

I would vote for Mad Mick, Jensens mate from Idols, (used to help him with the Mag and publish Toon army news). But I would prefer to put my support behind one of the BBs Brigade. I realy think that we would be better off backing a single candidate as their are only to be 7 normal catergories. and the others will no doubt come from 1 The Mag, 2 TOTT, 3 the evening Chronicles candidate 4, NUFC.com . That leaves 3 places , I don't think we would get enough votes to get three candidates in.

I'd vote for MacB or Jonno no problem....
