1. Next FIRM Council Forum information -- To kick off Records Management Week, which is 4/1-7/01, we have a FIRM Council program scheduled for Thursday, March 29, 2001,from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at NARA, Archives II, College Park, MD. This program features Mr. Ross Gibbs, Director, Public Record Office, Victoria, Australia. Mr. Gibbs will present on the Victorian Electronic records Strategy (VERS). Sources tell us that Mr. Gibbs was much of the imagination and energy that went into the creation and development of VERS. For more information on VERS, please see www.pro.vic.gov.au.

2. The next Professional Association Liaisons (PALS) Meeting will be held on February 28, 2001, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Office of U.S. Courts (next to Union Station). The topics for discussion are: 1) Enhancement of the 5015.2 standard; 2) Performance objectives and metrics for the management of records; 3) Strategic planning to capitalize on the potential of XML to facilitate RM practices.

3. ARMA, International is changing its focus from RIM (Records & Information Management) to SIM (Strategic Information Management). The goal of the change is to advance the profession to the CIO-or SIO Strategic Information Officer-level. ARMA is planning a SIM Symposium for June in Washington DC.

4. NARA has a BRIDG Meeting on 2/21/01, 10-12 noon, Old Archives at 7th & PA Ave., NW on RM issues affecting the transition to the new Administration.
