This is scary. There are millions of unwanted dogs put down in shelters every year. I love purebred dogs and own one. But here is yet another example of a totally clueless person who sends some random e-mail in hopes of learning about breeding. There are many, many poodle breeders who have been working for decades. I'm not saying someone who writes in all caps, without any punctuation, and who lazily writes inquiry e-mails instead of going to shows, talking to breeders and reading books is dumb -- but do we really need another redneck in charge of multiple future dog's lives?

First of all this person needs some grammar lessons. Where is the love of this wonderful, loving breed? Breeding any type of pedigee is more than a dollar in your pocket! I have a 4.5lb. black toy poodle named Sadie. My husband and I love her so much! She is the light of our lives! We purchased her from a reputable private breeder. Any one that is thinking about purchasing a poodle, needs to read that e-mail! WHAT AN IGNORANT IDIOT!

It looks like you have not received any positive responses!! I am a private breeder of toy poodles and I do it for the love of the breed, this is not something you do to make money. If you love the breed and you want to improve it then I suggest first having your females and whatever stud you choose to mate them with tested for any defects, hip dysplasia etc. I also suggest waiting until your female is in her second or third season (heat) before mating her, you will have to pay a stud fee or give pick of the litter to the owner of the stud. Always read up on the subject and prepare before you do it!! It is a LOT of work....You need a proper place in your home for the mother to have the pups, some way to keep it properly heated, tails docked, dew claws removed, first shots. Pregnancy lasts about 63 days, not long for you to get the litter registration in and prepare...Then you have to run ads for the puppies--and remember if you use a stud from someone else you have to give them pick of the litter!! Toy poodles only average 4 pups a litter. But if you do try it , Good luck and make sure your pups have a proper home before you let them go...There are far to many unwanted dogs out there. Thanks, Tracey
