I guess this is a 'told ya so'.

Kennedy missile gap all over again. But the Reagan equipment is wearing out, and somebody has to foot the bill.

I'm just going to say this once - told ya so!

Bush would MUCH rather have a tax cut than a raise for the military. And we will STILL have PFC's on welfare next year. Pentagon changed the rules so food stamp cards can now be used in the PX. Doesn't that make you feel good?

Won't ask you repeat "told ya so" but will ask you repeat what you told in the first place. As for military poverty consider that over 60% of the enlisted ranks today are married. Was less than 30% when I was in. Any idiot who thinks he can join, get married, pump a bunch of kids (order not important) and stay above the poverty level is an idiot. Fear of the present scenario was argued years ago by those who favored conscription over an all volunteer force. When "Be All You Can Be" includes unwise fatherhood it ain't the government's fault.

Said several times that Gore was more concerned about the military than Bush.

Gore planned for a military pay raise this year - it was in his proposed budget details.

$#^%ing EXCUSE ME!!!!

As a military member you give up a hell of a lot of personal rights to serve your country, possibly put your life on the line for a pittance of the pay you would receive in civilian life and are now categorized as leaches popping out babies for "what?" more pay?

Some people actually serve their country out of patriotism.

I joined the Air Force during the VietNam war out of respect for my Father who spent 3 1/2 years in a japanese prisoner of war camp during world war II defending this country. Are you aware that the west coast of the US was being bombed? Are military people somehow lessor people who are not allowed to marry and have children? What are they, indentured servants? The military doesn't pay sh*t, I walked out of the military into the same job in civilian life for five times the pay.

Is this country so sick that they can now dictate how many children people are allowed to have? 30 years ago China instituted a one child one couple policy because their population was exploding beyond their means, this country has had a social movement to limit the amount of children we had. After W.W.II the country had a baby boom because for decades there had been a depression followed by war which killed of a large population of men. Not to mention the republican run VietNam war which fed the economy but slaughtered a generation of men.

Shame on you for talking about military people like they are cattle!
