Should I get another maine coon???

I have a 2 yr old silver maine coon. He is very playful and loveable, I've been thinking of getting another male maine coon? Is this a good idea? I don't want to change his temperment, and get all mad. I would think that he would like another to play with as he's always wanting me or our dog to play with him. Do maine coons have a tendency to be jealous or do you think its a good idea to get another? Also would he go around marking his territory?? I don't want to spend the money and get attached to the kitten if he is going to be mad. I appreciate anyones input. Thanks

I to have the same question. I have a two year old brown tabby male. He seems lonely and would like a playmate. I am concerned about how he would feel with a new brother in the house. I would appreciate any help anyone is willing to give us. Thanks

When our first Maine Coon was 7 years, he seemed lonely so we got another MC kitten. Although they have never been pals, noone every seems lonely any more. The oldest seemed to enjoy having someone to be dominant over.

When the second MC was 5 and the oldest MC was13 we got another non- MC kitten from the shelter. The first MC really likes the newest cat and it is funny to see them wrestling in the yard. The second one pretends to hate him, but they can be caught playing every night and every morning.

So...I would get another. If you have a male...get another male.
