I'm looking for stuff on the same topic and I can't find anything either. If YOU have any ideas for my paper please help me, or if you get any ideas from other people pass them my way via e-mail. Thanks

Well, this is probably not the answeer you are looking for but at least on of the elements he uses in music. Just read the poem 'The Raven' outloud => sounds dark.

Hi, I'm doing something similar in an American Literature class. My thesis is that Poe uses paraphernalia from the romantic sub-genre of Gothicism to show a descent into madness. So far, I've found examples such as him using the catacombs as the settings in "The Cask of Amontillado" and also the raven in his poem "The Raven" since reference to that species of bird can be found all over, dating back to the time the term "goth" originated. If you need more ideas, I should have my outline finished tonight and you can email me asking more specific questions.

look in "The Fall of the House of Usher". Basically everything in it is a gothic element that represents something else.
