Cannon300 vs NikonF65

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I am thinking of buying a CannonEOS300 or NikonF65, but can't decide which one would be better. I don't have much experience in this. Can some one recommand which one would be a better buy? Yours comments will be appreciated. Thanks Dave

Okay, I'm bored, let's start a flame war.

Get the Canon for sure. The F65 is a dog! The Canon is better equipped with more features. The one great advantage that some better Nikon have is the ability to use older lenses. That's not true with the F65 or F80, so get the Canon.

Sorry, sometimes I just can't help myself.

Truthfully, it comes down to which one you like to use. Which one feels better. They are both nice low end cameras. Somepeople don't like the flimsy feel of the Canon, but I like the lightness and think it's control layout is nice. Other people... Well, I guess I wont say that here.

I think the Nikon G lenses are inexpensive because they removed the aperature ring (and they're probably built cheap).

Dave,

You can hardly expect to come to the Canon EOS forum and ask for a balanced discussion on which camera system to go with! :)

I've got to say that Jim did a pretty good job, though! Kudo's to Jim.

I think the Nikon G lenses are very much like the ultra-low end Canon kit lenses. 'Nough said! ;)
