Filter Evaluation- B+W Top Polarizer Multi-coated

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

This filter was bought to cut down on internal reflections in the 400mm Takumar. The filter is solid and heavy with threads that never get stuck when fitting to the filter holder. Images taken through this filter don't seem the be degraded at all, which they shouldn't. A nice filter but--------- There was an oily film on both surfaces that would not come off with Kodak lens cleaner or one of my solvents(hexylene glycol). This should not happen, directly from the factory. Isopropyl alcohol finally removed it. Hmmmmmmmmmm

Steve: I too have experienced the "grease" on the B+W polarizers, esp around the ring. Thanks for tip on alcohol. msmith
