Robson on Sky yesterday!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Did anyone see the snippets that Sky were showing in place of the game yesterday?

Re-runs of the Leicester 4-3 match and many previous Southampton clips shown, memories!!

Best/Worst thing was Robson opening up to the press with an interview and analysis of how he goes about his coaching etc, more of which will be shown next Sunday.

Robson said that after the Manure match Fergie had said to Robson, "Make sure you get some time to yourself". Bobby said it made him think ,does he do that, does he get the time to take his family around the World?

Bobby seemed to be getting very philosophical about things and when asked about his contract he mentioned the 12 month rolling contract and how Freddie Shepherd would look after him once he stands down from the Managers job.

I firmly believe that Bobby will have one more season then hand over to a new man. Too early by far for Shearer so hoopefully there is an integration process for the next man already set out.

It will be interesting to see how long he continues. I've gotten that sense of him knowing there's more to do and see the couple of times I've met him, but his love of football and all that goes with it is so overwhelming. He's like a kid in the candy store of life. So much to experience and not enough time for it all. I so hope that he does manage to lift a trophy with Newcastle soon and then go on to visit all the places he wants to see. He really deserves it.

Apologies for not seeing the other thread elsewhere. Truly magic to see Bobby at work even if he was giving me the heebie-geebies regarding his future.

Bobby's probably past the retiring stage. I think if you're his type of character, and the fact that he's been in the game so long, he wouldn't know what to do with himself if he finally hung up his managerial overcoat. My present boss is a bit like that. We were taken over a year or so back, and everyone assumed that in his early 70's he would just call it a day. But a year on he's not only still here, he's taken over as CEO of one of the subs of the company that took us over!! Personally even in my mid 30's finishing my working life couldn't come soon enough if I had the opportunity, but it takes all sorts. I saw Shearer remark similarly yesterday, which perhaps shows he hasn't the stomach for a long managerial career....

There is a video available, I might add it to the end of the Charlton game next Sunday.
