On receiving a letter from DLA threatening court and subsequently getting more advice from this site, I wrote back listing every date I had previously requested documents and asking for them again to substantiate their claim (as they'd have to show me them in the end).

Today I have received a letter from DLA to say that they are considering my comments and taking their client's further instructions and will contact me in due course.

Has anyone received letters like this? Should I respond? What does it mean?

Any answers will help me not to expect a summons through the post anyday!

This does happen from time to time. You can see an example of it in the letters in success story five.

If you want to, you can respond with a letter saying that you received their letter and have noted its contents. Otherwise, you might as well wait to see what Abbey comes back with.

It's an interesting move because it clearly lacks the veiled threat that is usually in lawyer's letters.
