Nero Burning Rom ver. 5.5

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I've heard thru the grapevine that a new version of Nero is coming out in Feb. 2001 with much enhanced VCD capabilities, menu creation features, etc. Sounds like they may have made decent product here. Does anyone have any more info. about it or a link to some info. Much appreciated.

I used the demo version of Nero. Making the VCD was no trouble, only problem I had was that the VCD only plays in my computer Encore DVD. NO commercial stand alone dvd player that I tried in Best Buy could detect anything on the vcd disk. My own Sharp DV600 couldn't find it either. Until stand alone dvd players can detect vcd's made by a computers read write cd rom ( I used a creative 4414 I think), I don't see much use for them.

There are many DVD players that can read VCD on CD-R and CR-RW. Check them out at vcdhelp.com

I have been making both VCD and SVCD discs for a a few months now and both play perfectly on my SCAN SC2000 dvd player which cost 200 pounds. It also plays MP3s and DVDs and CDs!!

I use Media studio to create the mpg then TBMPEG to convert it to SVCD format using a template then Nero V5 to make the cd.

Cheers
