Saroca boats

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Open-water rowing : One Thread

I am looking for people who own a Saroca boat or know of someone who does. I know they are not being built now and that their contest to give away the production rights has been cancelled. I would like to purchase a used Saroca and talk with people who own one.

I, too, am a new owner of a Saroca (1987). Does anyone know where you can get some of the accessories, like the tent, etc.?

I have been looking for a Saroca. Can anyone tell me how well they perform and where I might possibly find one? I have researched everywhere looking for some sort of hint of a company reopening but to no avail.

I have an update on the Saroca company. It appears the company has been bought and moved to Daytona Beach Florida. I spoke with one of the new owners his name is Sidney Taylor. They are working to get the company back up and running as soon as possible. If you are looking for parts, they do have some available as well as a few boats. You can call him at 386-801-2808 or e-mail: liquid7sid@aol.com. Please let him know how you found him.

Saroca Boats is back in business!

We have just acquired Saroca, Inc and moved it to a town outside of Daytona Beach, Florida.

Please feel free to send us any comments or suggestions to sarocaboats@aol.com . We are in a beginning stage and we are still attempting to get things sorted out and organized so please be patient with us.

Sincerely,

Les Williams, Mark Watts, and Sidney Taylor -- Co-Owners Saroca Boats of Florida LLC.

I've owned a Saroca since 1982. I bought LL Bean's (Maine) floor display boat with the sail package at a Portland boat show in the spring of 82. LL Bean had three boats, I was told they were the prototype designs from designer Jan Dorfman. LL Bean intended to carry the Saroca line because it fit well with their general theme. Dorfman's company had some problems and could not keep their promise to LL Bean so Bean sold the three boats, I was at the right place at the right time. I do have some history of the boat that I will gladly share, I also have 20 yrs of sailing this design and without a doubt it is probably the finest all purpose boat you will ever find, period.

I just bought one too the other day - 1989 mint condition. I would like to know if anyone has accessories also. I love this boat. I call it the Swiss Army boat.

I have a used Saroca that I bought about 8 years ago. I have used it about 15 times and have since taken up kayaking. I am looking to sell it if you or anyone you know is interested. Email me for details and pictures.
