This may be your last chance to support Ashcroft...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have received several alerts the past few days about the Ashcroft confirmation. I know that not everyone here supports him but for those of you that do , it is crucial at this time to contact your state's senators and let them know of your support. My understanding is that support from both sides is neck and neck. I believe this is one of those situations where your call or email could make a difference.

It was also brought to my attention to contact some key democrat senators even if they are not from your state. They are Reid, Landrieu, Carper, Edwards, Graham, and Lieberman. Go to the senate web page and it lists the phone #,fax and email addresses. There may be a few more I forgot to list but I believe you can get more names from the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) or from Focus on the Family.

For those of you who don't support Ashcroft, I mean no offense. I just want to alert those who do support him know that time is of the essence in letting your voice be heard.

Denise, thanks for taking the time to post this. I have already called & e-mailed, more thank once actually. Thanks again!

Tnx for the alert. I'll be sure to let them know to NIX Ashcroft.

ugh, that would be "than"...not "thank".

I have to laugh "yours truly". That's the point! Let the senate know. That's exactly what I am suggesting. It's how a free government works! And you're just trying to get a rise out of someone. I was prepared for this and it doesn't bother me a bit. So anyone else that reads this don't let it bother you either. Just follow your conscience and let your voice be heard where it counts (either way)! And once again, no offense was intended. Just be involved in your government!

Denise, Thanks. We have already done so also, but it is very important. I spoke w/ one of our Senator's staffers on the phone over a different topic a few years ago. You'd be surprised how little they hear from the constituents. Subsequently, they listen a lot to what folks say who do take the time to call or write.

In regards to "yours truly" I would venture to guess that email addy is not real. But it illustrates beautifully why all the recent "concerning the Forum" postings and calls for civility are fruitless.

Mr Ashcroft has been confirmed! Hallelujah! I'm looking forward to the next 4 years. Shoot I'm looking eagerly forward to the next week!

I also feel very happy about the outcome. But I have a feeling we'd better put on our seat belts because we're in for a bumpy ride from here on out. That was pretty close as the Democrats seemed to be pretty united. But I am also feeling very hopeful that the new administration will be able to do a good job and begin to change the partisan and moral tide in this country.

I think we'll just have stay aware of what's going on and continue to support President Bush when we are able.
