Elliot is on a free at the end of the season and I've seen reports that Gallacher is the same.

Not a bad move as we do need left sided players. However, if Elliot was not a Geordie boy, would we be remotely interested in a player who is not being offered a new contract by a Nationwide Div 1 club?

Of course we would be interested in him - He's been injured since he left us and our physios will be bored when Marcelino leaves.

That's it. Perhaps our physios are too busy treating players to learn about new techniques!

I don't think we would be interested in him if he wasn't a geordie, but if we could have the same Robbie Elliot back that we sold to Bolton then I'd take him .

Howay all you stattos out there, what's the info on Robbie Elliots career since he left Newcastle. He broke his leg in the first season, so what's he been doing since then?

Robbie Elliott:

NUFC League = 79 app, 9 goals
BWFC League = 73 app, 4 goals

NUFC FACup = 14 app, 0 gls
BWFC FACup = 4 app, 0 gls

NUFC LgeCup = 5 app, 0 gls
BWFC LgeCup = 5 app, 2 gls

NUFC Other (Europe) = 6 app, 0 gls
BWFC Other (PlayOffs?) = 5 app, 0 gls

He was out with a terrible leg break from Setember 1997 to October 1998 which obviously affected his game. He also plays further upfield for Bolton so oddly enough he is now scoring less goals and picking up more bookings having moved from defence to midfield.

A complete look at his seasons:

1993-94 NUFC Pld:2 Gls:0 Yel:0 Red:0
1994-95 NUFC Pld:0 Gls:0 Yel:0 Red:0
1995-96 NUFC Pld:7 Gls:0 Yel:1 Red:0
1996-97 NUFC Pld:33 Gls:7 Yel:3 Red:0
1997-98 BWFC Pld:4 Gls:0 Yel:0 Red:0
1998-99 BWFC Pld:26 Gls:1 Yel:9 Red:0
1999-00 BWFC Pld:36 Gls:4 Yel:8 Red:1
2000-01 BWFC Pld:21 Gls:1 Yel:3 Red:0

Pick the bones out of that lot. I haven't distinguished between substitute appearances and starts, as I can't be arsed, but he had 12 subs for us and 17 for them. A far more interesting stat would be the number of times a player has actually been substituted, which will happen if I finish my poxy database :-)

Surely the card stats are misleading? I'm no anorak (unlike Softie, eh?) but I reckon that the total number of cards dished oot over the last 4 years or so is considerably higher than it used to be. I also think policemen are looking a lot younger these days (and nostalgia's not what it used to be - tho' in my state, I can't remember what it used to be).

(wring wring)
Absolutely correct, Sir, and may I just add how annoying it is how everyone keeps whispering all the time and did you know I used to be able to go out for the night, get fish and chips and a trolley bus home for a thrupenny bit...(contd P94)
