John,

The "address" is simply the name of the person to whom the poem is addressed. Frances Sargent Osgood was a poetess of some local fame and Poe had once praised her works in one of his literary reviews. They became friends and, at one time, were thought to have carried on an affair. Actually, the affair was simply a public exchange of poetry in print. Their relationship was based on mutual admiration and respect that any rumored thoughts of love.
